The demand for child care increases every day as more and more parents search for safe, affordable, quality care for their children. For over 30 years, CHS has taken a leading role in identifying and meeting the needs of families in this dynamic, changing field.
The overall goals of Child Care and Development Services are to assist low-income parents in achieving self-sufficiency, to promote quality child care by providing resources and training to child care providers, and to provide education and resources to parents.
Child Care and Development Services, CHS's largest service area, provided over 159,000 units of service last year, reaching out to more children and families than ever before. Comprehensive programs ensure that reliable and quality child care is available for children from birth to 13 years of age who are in need of care during any part of a 24-hour day. These programs are identified in three program categories, including Child Care Resource and Referral, Child Care Assistance, and Child Care Placement.
