Raising children is rewarding, but it can also be challenging. Parenting a child is a humbling journey in which parents participate in different aspects of their growth and development, such as the celebratory “ah ha” moments when their child accomplishes a new milestone, supporting and guiding their autonomy, and being their role models of healthy self-regulation and resilience when challenges inevitably arise. Whether caregiving has become challenging or you just want to be more prepared as your child develops, learning with CHS Early Learning and Education Programs (ELEP) can help parents select solutions that fit their family’s needs.
CHS learning opportunities are based on the latest research and best practices in early childhood education. Informed by best practices regarding child development and education, CHS resources include practical ideas for unique circumstances and considers how families’ function. We also understand parents have busy lives, so our resources are clear and easy to access. For instance, our Family Education Program offers extensive free digital or hardcopy brochures on a broad range of topics, such as Choosing Child Care, Positive Discipline, Nutrition, Bullying and Trauma. You can also learn on the go with CHS Podcasts; some topics include the benefits of Sleep or Toilet Learning Readiness, and many more that are readily available on the CHS website.
If you prefer hands-on learning activities you can do with your child, take a peek at our CHS Activity Sheets. Categorized by age groups, from infants to school-age, these materials are a rich source of learning activities that can be done at home or in child care programs. Topics range from Social and Emotional Development to Supporting Children During Transitions, Developing Language through Music, and Playing with Math. As with most CHS learning resources, CHS Activity Sheets are available in English and Spanish and can be downloaded free of charge from the website.
You can also sign up for the biannual CHS Parent Newsletter and subscribe to receive email notifications of CHS News and Workshops.
CHS also offers valuable parent workshops in both English and Spanish, providing families with opportunities to deepen their understanding of early childhood development, school readiness, parenting strategies, and more.
