Engaging Children in Mixed Age Groups

Connecting Parents to the Community

This workshop is designed to assist potential child care providers in creating partnerships with parents and members from the community. All participants will learn how to navigate their community resources and link parents to identified liaisons from community agencies as needed. Participants will receive a parent resource directory. Rocio Bach has a M.A. in Human Development with a specialization in Early Childhood and Adult Education. No child care will be provided.

Emergency Preparedness

This workshop is intended to give child care providers the skills required to properly respond in an emergency situation. Presented by Veronica Ornelas, Planning Specialist at the Long Beach Public Health Emergency Management (PHEM) Program, participants of this training will receive information on natural disasters, disease outbreaks, and bioterrorism events. No child care will be provided.

Working with Children in a Diverse World

This workshop will help Child Care Initiative Project (CCIP) participants gain self-identity and develop the critical skills required for interacting with diverse populations. The presenter will discuss the importance of bias, injustice, issues of socio-economic status, physical abilities, gender, race, and ethnicity. No child care will be provided.
