Keeping Children Safe in Early Care and Education Settings: Helmet Safety

Participants will learn about the risks associated with the use of wheeled toys by young children, understand when helmets should be used, and learn how to check for proper helmet fit.

Keeping Children Safe in Early Care and Education Settings: Playground Safety

We will identify the #1 cause of playground injuries. The goal of this training is for participants to understand and learn the importance of active supervision as a way to reduce injuries; especially those that occur around monkey bars, swings, and slides.

In this training, we will discuss how long a child should use a rear-facing car seat in a vehicle, as well as how tall a child should be before transitioning to a seat belt

Keeping Children Safe in Early Care and Education Settings: Medication Safety and Poison Prevention

Start: Wed, September 18, 6:30 pm
End: Wed, September 18, 8:30 pm

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to explain why children are at risk for medication poisoning, identify ways to prevent poisoning in early care and education settings, and learn what to do when a poisoning has occurred or is suspected in early care and education settings.

Keeping Children Safe in Early Care and Education Settings: Burn Prevention

Start: Thu, September 26, 6:30 pm
End: Thu, September 26, 8:30 pm

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to explain why children are at risk for burns, list the most common causes of burns in children younger than age 5, identify possible burn dangers in your child care environment, explain what you can do to make sure the children you care for are safe. Participants will leave the training with a list of at least three key strategies to prevent burns.
