Child Care Referrals

As a parent or guardian, you want to provide the best care and support for your child. Children’s Home Society of California’s (CHS) Resource and Referral (R&R) Program is here to support you!

Choosing child care is one of the most important decisions a parent can make. Our Choosing Child Care brochure and podcast provide valuable tips and checklists that can help you reflect on the child care option that may be best suited for you and your family when selecting quality child care. CHS encourages all parents to consider the full range of child care options available before choosing child care. To learn about your parental choice and the child care options that may be available to you, read our Parental Choice of Child Care Services brochure or listen to the podcast.

The Resource and Referral (R&R) Program, available Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., provides parents and guardians with information about child care options, provides referrals to resources available in your community, and gives referrals to licensed child care programs throughout the Greater Long Beach area, Orange County, Sutter County, Yolo County, and Yuba County areas. Our R&R Specialists can help you find licensed child care based on your family’s needs. To learn more about other services available through the R&R Program, click here, contact our office, or fill out a child care referral request form below and a Program Specialist will contact you directly to provide referrals. For your convenience, you may also search our online child care referral database for referrals that meet your family’s unique needs.

As always, if you have any questions about your child care options, resources available to you, or if you need assistance with referrals, contact your Resource and Referral Hotline and a R&R Specialist will be available to assist you with your needs.

Oliver’s Law
As a parent you have the right to get information about any substantiated or inconclusive complaints about a child care provider that you consider selecting for your child. The information is public and you can access it by calling the local licensing office.

Referral Policy
The information that will be provided is a referral, not a recommendation. Children’s Home Society of California (CHS) does not license, screen for quality of care, or endorse any provider. CHS does, however, offer education and information on selecting quality child care and encourages parents to visit child care providers before making their decision. We also offer information about selecting quality child care in our Choosing Child Care brochure. We encourage you to use this as a guide when selecting child care for your child
